I have zero artistic ability and struggled with this project quite a bit! I used merge drawing for the purple on the witch hat, and object drawing for the pumpkin and part of the cat. Most of the witch hat is done with primitive shapes and the bill of the hat was modified with a Bezier curve. The corners represent object drawings, the use of Bezier curves and my personal gradient. You'll also notice the personal gradient in the sweeping touch I have at the top of my flyer, which was also done using the paint brush. I struggled with the corners but finally discovered how to copy one object and flip or rotate it to obtain a mirror image. As you can see from my scrawny and misshaped cat, I can stand to work on my pencil drawing a bit more... But, he's not horrible for the first project.
I found that while I struggled with each piece, I learned a bit more as I went through the steps. I would certainly need more time with each tool before I could tell you definitively what style I prefer but for now the object drawing seems to be the most forgiving. It's easier to fix if I mess with it too much and want to start over while the primitive shapes are very rigid/inflexible. Merge drawing was the toughest for me to figure out but I'll get the hang of it. Since I combined the pen tool and the merge object I found it was more difficult to modify the end shape so I was stuck with the purple on the hat a bit smaller than I'd like.
